For people representing themselves

The law belongs to everyone. So should the tools.

Lawyers work with software that sorts evidence, builds timelines and drafts documents. If you’re handling your own case, you’ve probably been working from a folder and a kitchen table. Mockingbird gives you the same kind of help, at a price that fits a household budget.

You don’t need a legal background, and you don’t need to set anything up.

$39 a month. AI help included.

Start with what you have. Take it one step at a time.

Start with what you have

Your papers don’t have to be organized before you begin.

Bring the documents and notes you already have. Mockingbird helps you sort them and shows you what might be missing.

01

Keep the pieces together

Put court papers, letters, emails and notes in one place. Search for names, dates and phrases without opening every file.

02

See what happened, and when

Build a timeline, link each event to the papers that support it and keep court dates and reminders next to your notes.

03

Ask questions in everyday language

Ask Scout, your case assistant, about your papers. Try “Summarize this letter in plain language” or “Find the emails that mention the repair.” Every answer links back to the page it came from, so you can check it.

04

Work on what you want to say

Turn your notes into a draft. Listen to it read aloud, add comments, revise it and save it as a Word file.

Know what to expect

AI help is included. No extra accounts.

Your plan comes with a monthly allowance for Scout and the drafting tools. There’s nothing to connect and no separate bill from an AI company.

If a busy month uses up your allowance, for example in the weeks before a hearing, you can buy more from your account. You’ll always see how much you’ve used.

Choose monthly or yearly billing. Cancel before your renewal date and keep access until the end of the period you’ve paid for.

Help shape Mockingbird for people like you.

We’re inviting people handling their own cases to try Mockingbird early and tell us what helps, what’s confusing and what should work differently. Founding customers may get reduced or free access. We’ll agree on the details with you before you begin.

Before you get started

A few practical questions.

Does Mockingbird replace a lawyer?

No. Mockingbird is software that helps you organize information, find what you need and work on drafts. It doesn’t give legal advice, choose a strategy for you or represent you in court. You can use it alongside a lawyer or a court self-help center. Check what it produces against your papers, and confirm court rules and deadlines before you act.

What happens if I use up my AI allowance?

Everything else keeps working: your documents, search, timelines and drafts. Scout pauses until your allowance resets on the 1st, or you can buy more from your account.

Who can see my documents?

Mockingbird stores your documents. Authorized staff can access customer data. When you use Scout, we send relevant pages to our AI provider. The provider’s terms govern training and retention. Zero-knowledge encryption is coming soon and is unavailable at launch. Ask us about data handling before you upload sensitive documents.

Where can I find free or low-cost legal help?

You don’t need Mockingbird to look for legal help. California court self-help centers offer free assistance, with services varying by court. LawHelp.org can help you find legal aid in your state.
